SYMMES TOWNSHIP, OHIO (June 14th, 2025) – After crusading to Columbus to conquer fellow KHFC team Kings Hammer FC Columbus, the newly crowned Kings Hammer FC Cincinnati men will return to Cincy in hopes of getting revenge against Fort Wayne FC.
A 2-0 victory in the inaugural “Crusade for the Crown” seems like it has the KHFC Cincinnati men back on the right track after being winless in their last four, albeit two of those ending in draws. Now, with four games to go in the season, the playoffs could be a very real possibility for KHFC.
The Hammers sit eight points behind Fort Wayne FC, meaning that a win would put them only five points away with three games to go, a very realistic margin to overcome. That, of course, relies on a win against Fort Wayne. A loss, on the other hand, begins to paint a grim picture.
Earlier this season, when the two met in Indiana, a very even first half ended 0-0. For a long time, KHFC was in the game before Fort Wayne eventually took control of the match after the break, winning 3-1.
Now, back in Cincinnati, KHFC will no doubt be aiming to be the team with control in the second half. While this game may not demand a win mathematically for the Hammers to stay in contention, it would certainly be unhelpful to lose.
As mentioned earlier, a loss makes the road to the playoffs a lot more difficult. Fort Wayne FC would go 11 points clear of third place. KHFC, meanwhile, would find themselves nine points behind Lexington SC, meaning the only way to the playoffs would be winning three of the last five while Lexington loses three of their last five.
It’s not impossible considering KHFC and Lexington play each other on the final matchday, but it would take a lot of hard work and a bit of a blessing from lady luck.
All told, this upcoming match against Fort Wayne is the biggest game of the season to date. Fans are more than encouraged to head to the Lindner Family Sports Complex at CHCA and voice their support for the Hammers. A great backing from the fans could give them a boost that starts a magical run in.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and tickets for the match can be purchased here!
