FORT WAYNE, IN (May 31, 2025) – Kings Hammer FC Cincinnati endures their first loss of the season against familiar division rival, Fort Wayne FC.
The first 45 minutes of the match were a constant back-and-forth, with the match seemingly stuck in the midfield. Fort Wayne did have a few chances from corners, but nothing was produced.
In the 31st minute, the first yellow card of the match was issued to KHFC’s Bennett Painter after going for a risky header that clashed with a Fort Wayne player. Not much longer in the 32nd minute, another yellow was given to KHFC’s Diego Hoenderkamp for a tackle on the same Fort Wayne player.
In the 39th minute, KHFC midfielder Kenny Walker shoots a great lob pass to Bennet Painter, but it bounces a bit too high for him to control, and he is met by the keeper near the outside of the box.
The rest of the first half passes by without much action to note from either side.
The second half kicks off, and in 20 seconds in, KHFC’s Painter wins a 1v1 against Fort Wayne defense and scores a bottom corner goal, setting the Hammers up to 1-0.
In the 50th minute, experienced KHFC forward Brock Kiper goes down with an injury and is subbed off for Kasey Welage. As a result of Kiper’s injury, Coach Tony Awor shifted Painter to the striker position with Welage out at the wing.
In the 54th minute, Fort Wayne levels the score with a goal from Caio Oliveira.
In the 62nd minute, a chance is created for Kings Hammer with Kenny Walker attempting to bicycle kick the ball, but it’s stopped by Fort Wayne’s Keeper.
In the 86th minute, Fort Wayne goes up one with Hugo Garcia scoring a header. In the 92nd minute, KHFC’s Wade Stinson makes a misplay, and Fort Wayne’s Oliveira takes the opportunity to score his second goal of the night, bringing the score to 3-1.
The full-time whistle is blown at the 96th minute, with the final score being 3-1.
